Freshman and Sophomores

EDUCATION

Weight Training for Fitness class is both a classroom and hands on course. This course focuses on increasing each student's knowledge about the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual aspects of health and wellness. They will fain the ability to identify and resist destructive behaviors and develop strategies for health promotion.The students will learn basic training principles, components of fitness, muscle groups and functions, Steroid Education, Health Related vs. Skill Related Fitness, basic nutrition, heart rate zones, blood flow through the heart and proper exercise protocols.

YEAR 1: WEIGHT TRAINING

Weight training programs are created for each individual based on the proper implementation of 1 Rep Max Testing. Each week, the students will be given a work out program and posess the proper knowledge to complete it each class day. 

 

YEAR 2: CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS

The students will learn on Aerobic fitness components and will complete a series of labs. The students will learn all of the parts of the heart as well as how to track heart rates and target heart rate zones for exercise. They will also learn about proper Heart Health and warning signs of multiple Cardiovascular Diseases.
